I was introduced to Mr. Perry Wilson and the "If I Had a Hammer" program by our volunteer sponsor, Youth Visions. Mr. Wilson has developed a program that not only meets the needs of our students, but has also sparked their interest and kept them engaged.
Students often hesitate to attend after-school programs based on the traditional model of revisiting skills not mastered during the school day. "Hammer" combated this problem by integrating school-based skills in an innovative program. The program helped develop the participants’ math, science and language skills as well as their self-esteem and team building skills.
We look forward to working with them in the future.

Working with Mr. Wilson and Mr. McNair has been an exhilarating experience for both my students and me. "If I Had a Hammer" is a well laid out program from beginning to end.
As a science and math teacher, I am continuously searching for methods and strategies that integrate subjects while keeping the Tennessee Student Performance Indicators in mind. This program does just that.
This year I have watched students who fought the learning process blossom while enrolled in the "Hammer" program. As a teacher, I used parts of the program in my classroom and developed several projects using techniques from "Hammer" as a model.
Students are still talking about the "Hammer" experience.
Their dedicated staff worked alongside school staff, administration, parents, and community stakeholders to provide a quality learning program for Georgian Hills Jr. High students.

As the Supplemental Education Service Providers Coordinator, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with Mr. Perry Wilson and the "If I Had a Hammer" program.
The program gave our students the chance to strengthen their math skills in an authentic setting. The students also participated in experiences that helped foster their future career goals.
Our teachers have gained knowledge on developing project-based lessons, using cooperative learning and authentic assessments from working with Mr. Wilson and Mr. McNair.
A school cannot go wrong by developing a Partnership with "Hammer".
