The centerpiece of all If I Had A Hammer programs is the Hammer House.
Local students visit the Hammer House to participate in the Hammer Field Trips and the Hammer Math Program.
Organizations, schools, corporations, etc. may become a licensed site for an If I Had A Hammer House for a period of two years (please contact If I Had A Hammer for a current schedule of licensing fees).
What is a Hammer House?
- A free-standing 8’ x 11’ modular house that students assemble during the Hammer Field Trips and the Hammer Math program
- All materials needed for its assembly
What organization would be a Hammer House Site?
- Community college
- Vocational high school
- Industry association chapter
- Local business
- Any entity interested in projecting a positive image to today’s youth and tomorrow’s workforce
- Correctional facility
- Inmates experience the reward of building something from nothing
- Inmates learn basic math skills and valuable life skills

Why Be a Hammer House Site?
- The Hammer House Field Trips are an excellent opportunity for students to tour a community college campus or to visit a vocational program at a high school
- In addition to building the Hammer House, students may be given a tour of the facility, interact with organization leadership and be informed of the opportunities that are available to them through the Hammer House site.
- Historically, Hammer House sites average more than 2,000 students visiting annually.
- The Hammer Field Trip is a way to recruit students to your programs, show students the importance of math skills in their everyday life, and to deliver positive life messages.
- The Hammer Field Trip provides a great opportunity for industry to reach out to students in the form of guest speakers, guest interviews, guest team leaders, etc.
